The truth is I’m not a huge jewelry girl. I used to wear all kinds of costume jewelry but for whatever reason I just outgrew it. Now I mostly stick to a few classic, simple pieces but am warming up to this trend of statement necklaces. They’re not meant for for the everyday, but I do think they really compliment a simple ensemble or dress up a more casual number, which is especially useful for this holiday season when we hop from party to party.

The idea is to ask yourself what piece is least likely to cause that ‘Good Lord, what was I thinking?!’ thought when you look at old photos. In this case I’ve picked pieces with classic elements such as pearls, tortoise shell, turquoise, etc.
