Emily Henderson: Curbly Makeover

I’ve been thinking about this space ever since Emily Henderson posted it on her site last Thursday and really just need to take a second to talk about how much I love it. Obviously I spend a lot of time looking at the work of other people via magazines, blogs, etc. and it’s beyond invigorating to discover a design that speaks to me so long after I find it. This room just really does it for me.

I think the first thing I loved about this space was the Anson Sofa from Room and Board. I have a thing for tufted grey sofas and this one just screams run-and-jump-on-me or lets-take-a-nap depending on the mood you’re in. Either way it’s just so inviting and a great sturdy, classic piece. This metal accent coffee table is fantastic, isn’t it? A great focal point and added industrial charm.

Although the plaid upholstery is perhaps a bit too masculine for my taste, there is no denying the appeal of these Danish mid-century chairs. Their silhouette is timeless & sturdy and the wood’s warm finish brings balance to the predominant blue-grey palette. Check out that coffered ceiling, a look I would love in my own home.

I heart everything about this photo. I love a standalone chair against the wall which is super convenient for when guests arrive. This campaign chest style dresser, which I WANT by the way, was painted white and is ideal for family room storage like games, DVDs, and books. Also dig the pineapple-lookin’ vase.

Bar carts are super trendy right now and I like the finish on this one.  Get the look with this Libations Bar Cart from Crate and Barrel. The lamps bring added height and their curves stand out in a room full of straight lines. Check out this similar style Lola Table Lamp by Currey & Company via Zinc Door.

A gorgeous fireplace. I like the choice of a high-gloss white paint to cover the bricks which makes it look like subway tile. Books on a coffee table are a must for me and these ones do a great job summing up the room’s colors. The wall color is Sherwin Williams Aloof Gray SW 6197.
