Chair Appreciation

I have come to the realization that I have a thing for chairs. Honestly, I can’t browse a consignment or antique shop without stumbling upon some dusty old forgotten chair that’s a truly great piece. This weekend I found a sturdy pub-style wooden chair at Savers in Hanover, MA for $7.00.  What a steal!

I didn’t buy it on account of not having the space to keep it but it really had me thinking about how many people out there don’t see the value in a good sturdy chair. They’re not merely something to sit in. Chairs of quality craftsmanship can last a lifetime or more and are also ideal for using as stools, extra tabletop space, and decoration too.

p.s. If you don’t love an old chair as is, try painting and/or reupholstering.

This is what I would have done with the great chair find from Savers mentioned above: place it in a hallway or by an empty wall where it can be used as extra seating or as a temporary home for on-the-go items. Photo via Remain Simple.
